Children have an enormous natural capacity for love and trust. These virtues are learned and nurtured early through the living example of the family. Children first learn about God in the domestic church of a home where the Catholic faith is actively practiced.
The Saint Leo the Great Child Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation Program builds on these critical beginnings by introducing children to Jesus as a loving friend and faithful companion. Through catechetical instruction designed for each grade level, our Program "fills in the blanks" of our children's knowledge and understanding of Jesus' unique call to them to participate in God's plan of salvation.
Our Program achieves the Six Tasks of Catechesis outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in the National Directory of Catechesis (Promote Knowledge of the Faith, Liturgical Education, Moral Formation, Learning to Pray, Education for Community Life, Missionary Discipleship and Service) through a rigorous, age-appropriate curriculum.
While maintaining the highest standards of catechetical education, our Program seeks to be compassionate and flexible in meeting the individual needs of our children and families. We strive to meet our children and families "where they are" while at the same time upholding the Truth of the Gospel and the Teaching of the Church.
We offer a Summer Vacation Bible School and Sunday Children's Liturgy of the Word for children from pre-school age to 8 years old. Our Summer Child Faith Formation option provides intensive instruction in a camp-like environment that fosters hands-on learning in a more relaxed setting. The traditional School Year program enables parents to select an evening for their child's instruction that best fits with family schedules. A Home Study option is also available for children whose family circumstances or educational needs do not match our other instructional formats.
The staff and catechetical volunteers of the Saint Leo the Great Child Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation Program seek to partner with Parents to support them in their on-going efforts to teach and nurture their children in the faith of Jesus Christ and the Holy Catholic Church.
Welcome to our Program. God bless you.
