Children's Liturgy of the Word
(CLOW)

  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word
(CLOW) program began in February 2006.

CLOW takes place at the 8:30 Aand 10:00 AM Mass during the “Liturgy of the Word”.  After the Opening Prayer, children between the ages of 3 to 8 are called to process to the front of the Church and are brought to a room by adult facilitators. During CLOW, they listen to the same Scriptural Readings made simple, and a reflection geared to their level.  They are encouraged to participate, and compose their own Prayer of the Faithful.  The children return to the Church during the Offertory Procession to continue worship with their families.

    Who We Are

Every Sunday 50-80 children participate in the CLOW program at the 8:30 and 10 AM Masses.  None of this would be possible without the people who make it happen.  Every Sunday, these ‘Guardians of Faith’ put their creative hearts and souls into teaching the children of Saint Leo the Great God’s Word, which is done in such a way that the children are “getting it”.

This program is led by people just like you - Moms, Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, and Uncles.  A desire to lead our children closer to Jesus is the ONLY pre-requisite to join the group (other than being a registered Parishioner of our Parish) .

Would you like to join our CLOW family?  Initially, some minimal training will be required (VIRTUS Training 2-3 hrs.) and a background check with fingerprinting.  After that, you are assigned to a team which is scheduled once every 6-7 weeks.  The nice thing about this program is that on your day to volunteer, you are still at Mass and still get to listen to Scripture – even though it’s the Children’s version.

This ministry will bring you much joy.
