Our teens lent many hands at the Knights of Columbus Food Drive for the Poorest of the Poor Food Barn which provides food for Missionaries of Charity in Harlem (NY), the Bronx (NY), Manhattan (NY), Brooklyn, Newark (NJ), Plainfield (NJ), and Asbury Park (NJ). They also deliver to the Franciscans of the Renewal in the South Bronx and Newark, Catholic Workers at the Bowery, and local charities! However, their shelves were empty until the KofC and our teens, did something about it last Monday. The KofC will be doing more food drives because the need is so great, so keep an eye out for the next one. When our teens were not busy unloading cars and sorting food, they were picking up garbage around the parish campus and twigs from the cemetery next door. They also handed out books donated by the church and prayer squares crocheted by the Prayer Shawl Ministry to those who dropped off donations. Atillios was kind enough to donate 6 pizzas to those working at the Food Drive. A cold day but one that was ignited by those who came out to make a difference to those around us that are less fortunate. Thank you to all of you who made that possible.
