Our Parish Community joyfully welcomes you and your family at this special time! The Baptism of your child is a wonderful event both in the life of your family and for our Parish Community. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, your child will receive the life of Christ and become a member of the Roman Catholic Church. We are happy to be part of this important event and assist you as you bring your child to the waters of Baptism.

 The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is celebrated on scheduled Sundays at 1:00 p.m. in the Church. 

 In order for your child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, you must be a registered Parishioner of Saint Leo the Great (or have a letter of permission from your current Parish).  We ask that you follow these guidelines and use them as a handy checklist in preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament.
  
Prior to scheduling a date for the Baptism , a few requirements must be met IN ADVANCE

 Arrangements must be made by submitting all required paperwork in advance and meeting with a Deacon.  After all requirements are met, please call the Parish Center to schedule a date.

Step 1 must be completed PRIOR to meeting with a Deacon or Class attendance and You must meet with the Deacon prior to scheduling your attendance at the Baptism Prep Class. 

1. ***Complete a BAPTISM INFORMATION FORMand email it as an attachment to [email protected] or drop it off at the Parish Center, Attention - Julie Olski. It is a fillable PDF form.  Please do not hand write the information (for legibility).
2. The child's Birth Certificate must be shown or a copy emailed.
3. Both parents are required to meet with one of our Deacons. The Deacon will be in touch with you to speak with you (set up an appointment) after receipt of the Baptism Information Form.
4. A Sponsor Certificate – or Letter of Eligibility must be received from BOTH Catholic Godparents. (If the perspective Godparents are member of Saint Leo's, please ask them to call us for a Sponsor Certificate or complete the request at https://stleothegreat.com/sponsor-requests. The request must come from them, personally)
5. Both parents are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation Class after their meeting with the Deacon.  
6. After completing the (1) Information Form, (2) Birth Certificate has been shown, (3) meeting/speaking with the Deacon, (4) both Sponsor Certificates have been received at the Parish Center, and (5) both parents have attended a Baptismal Preparation Class, please call Julie (732-747-5466 - Option 1) to schedule the date for your child’s Baptism.
